Summary

Create a multi-stage Dockerfile and Docker Compose configuration.

Implementation Tasks

  • Create multi-stage Dockerfile (build + runtime stages)
  • Create docker-compose.yml for local development
  • Create docker-compose.prod.yml for production
  • Configure volume mounts for data persistence
  • Configure environment variables
  • Add health check endpoint and Docker HEALTHCHECK

Design Decisions

  • Multi-stage build to minimize image size
  • Alpine or distroless base for production
  • Named volumes for data persistence
  • Non-root user in container

Acceptance Criteria

  • docker compose up starts the application successfully
  • Data persists across container restarts
  • Production image is under 50MB
  • Container runs as non-root user
  • Health check endpoint reports application status
